IJG has changed a lot in the last month. He weighs 13 pounds 5 ounces (more than double his birth weight). He is now smiling often in response to us talking to him and he "talks" back to us. He is able to lift his head and chest up for short periods of time when laying on his stomach. He is still not interested in looking at or holding toys, but is very interested in people's faces. He is a good sleeper at night. He usually goes to sleep between 8:30 and 9:30 pm and sleeps 5-6 hours straight during the first part of the night (he has slept up to 8 straight hours). I only have to get up once to feed him during the night, and he wakes for the day between 6:30 and 7:30 am. He enjoys having his diaper changed (or just being laid down on his back to await this procedure), being outside, bouncing, and getting bathed.

Busy Day
Yesterday (Thursday, 8.20.09), IJG and I went out to lunch with uncle M and auntie C. We picked them up and headed to Ruggles Green. Uncle M sat in the back and spent his time taking pics...as usual. It was nap time when we left home so I was hoping IJG would stay asleep the whole trip, and maybe even through lunch.
But, right before we arrived he woke up and wasn't happy.
A pic from lunch:
After lunch it was time for another nap. Even though I always put him right in the middle of the crib, I found him like this:
With his arm like this:
Later that afternoon, once NJG came home, we got our first real smile out of IJG. He did it twice. Unlike the other smiles, this one was big and open-mouthed. His eyes also lit up as he smiled. We ran for the camera and didn't quite catch it, but got a fuzzy pic of the second smile as it was ending.

IJG is 1 month old!
We took these pics each week for the first month. We will begin taking them on a monthly basis from now on. Isn't the difference between weeks 1 and 2 amazing? Especially since the general rule is that breastfed infants usually regain their birth weight in 2-3 weeks. He has more chins every time I look at him!
