Here's a vid of IJG rolling over in bed...the only place he's done it so far...it's just part of his wake up routine.

trip to CO
We're back from Denver. I can't say it was the most enjoyable trip, but I had to present my poster...and at least it was paid for.
We were hoping to escape the Texas heat and enjoy cool/cold weather in Denver. Other than the first morning, it was very warm in Denver, and another cool front went through Texas. It was actually warmer in Denver!
Here's a pic from that cold morning. We were waiting to get into a popular breakfast place and IJG fell asleep.

We spent a lot of time playing with IJG in the hotel room. His interest in holding and chewing toys finally arrived while we were away. We also visited a few parks.

Another skill IJG picked up while away is rolling over. He can now roll over from his tummy to his back, only rolling over his right side. Here's the photographic evidence. This is how I found him Monday morning. He now ends up on his back after every nap and every morning. It's actually disrupting his sleep. He is rolling over throughout the night and laying awake talking to himself. Last night was better, so hopefully he'll get over the novelty of it soon.

While in Denver, I was attending the American Dietetic Association Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo. Here's a pic of Ellie Krieger (the RD on Food Network) performing a food demo.

Tuesday, the last day we were in Denver, was the day I had to present my poster at the conference. Here's a pic of my poster. It's 5' x 2.5'.

Here's a pic of me leaving the conference...loaded down with loot from the expo, my poster and a coworker's poster, the baby bag, and baby...real excited about the 20 hr trip home.

it's Fall
It's finally cool in Texas! Friday night it dropped into the upper 50s and has stayed cool the entire weekend. We finally got to bundle up our cutie.
Here he is Friday evening ready for bed:

10.09.09
Saturday we went to the pumpkin patch to pick a pumpkin for NJG to carve. IJG was hungry so he was more interested in eating his hands or hoodie than posing for pictures.

Can you tell which one is my little pumpkin?

IJG is 3 months old!
9.28.09
So much has changed in the last month. IJG consistently sleeps 12 hours at night without waking up. I've also been able to get him to go to sleep earlier. Bedtime is now between 7:00 and 7:30 pm. He wakes between 7:30 and 8:00 am. We are working on him drinking milk from a bottle (I started pumping 2 weeks ago) so I can be away from him. It's going well. I was wondering if he would ever fall asleep "at the bottle" as he likes to do "at the breast" and he did today for the first time. IJG is a thumb sucker! He sucks his thumb at all times, including in his sleep! I often go into his room to check on him to find him sucking away while sleeping. He still doesn't want to touch or hold things but will grab onto toys or diapers (prefolds) that get between his hand and his mouth. He smiles all the time and will give any stranger who speaks to him a big grin. His favorites are diaper changes, baths, walks, leg massages, deep discussions, funny noises/faces his daddy makes, animal noises, and bouncing. He also tolerates stroller rides now, which allows me to go for walks without him strapped to me. This is helpful since he's about 14.5 pounds now.

IJG is playing!
IJG is finally entertained by toys!!! On Saturday we got him a play gym after finding out IKEA makes a wooden one for $25. He seems to like it. He accidentally spins the pieces on the sides while flailing around.

While he played, I used the time to sort through his clothing and see what should fit when we go to Colorado next month. I put pants on him for the first time. They were a bit too long, but I'm trying to buy winter clothes that will fit when Texas winter arrives and be usable in Colorado.

9.12.09
He is also finally enjoying his bouncy chair. We bought this when he was a few weeks old so I'd have somewhere to put him when I'm downstairs. He's never liked being in it. He'll sit for a few minutes and then start screaming. Now, he's looking at the toys hanging from it and having a good time. This morning he sat there for at least 15 minutes.
